The Conondale Cross Country Flyers Club was formed out of the predominantly coastal flying Sunshine Coast Hang Gliding Club to provide a club with a primary focus on inland flying. It was also intended to be for more experienced pilots as the some of the inland sites weren't so suitable for students and novices. Originally comprised of hang glider pilots it has over the years changed to being almost totally paraglider pilots as there has been very little inland flying of hang gliders in the area in recent years.
It has been a club that has a practical focus, where those that fly the most get the most say in how things are done. One policy has been that if you think something needs to be done, so long as you run it past some of the regularly flying experienced pilots first, you are welcome and encouraged to organise to get it done. As such the club is less political, less controlled by it's executive and more run by the members. Being a relatively small club this is more practically achievable than it would be in a big club.
The three sites in the Conondale valley that gave the club it's name are no longer open but Conondale is still somewhat central to the areas where we fly.
